Cavinti sits on the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges. It has 19 barangays and is part of the 4th District of the Province of Laguna.
Ever wonder how the town got its name?
It was told that the early settlers in the area are Aetas. And back then, a wedding ritual was being observed before a man and a woman ties the knot. The groom has to run after the bride along the riverbank in which the people around shouts “Kabit sa binti!” as the he tries to catch her on the legs. Binti is the Tagalog translation of leg.
And that’s the origin of Cavinti’s name.
