The Municipality of Cabuyao (In Filipino: Bayan ng Kabuyaw) is a First Class[1] urbanized municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. It lies for about 43 kilometers southeast of Metro Manila and is located at the western portion of Laguna. It is bordered by the Laguna de Bay, the country’s largest lake, to the north, Calamba City to the east, some portion of Silang, Cavite to the south and by the Santa Rosa City to the west. Cabuyao is approximately 54 kilometers away from Santa Cruz, the provincial capital, and 9 kilometers from the city proper of Calamba City, the chartered city and regional center of CALABARZON region. According to the 2007 Census[2], it has a population of 205,376 Inhabitants (106,630 people in 22,552 households in census 2000).
Cabuyao is currently the fastest-growing municipality in Laguna, as evidenced with a large populace of migrants working in the town’s industrial estates.

Nestlé Philippines, Asia Brewery, Inc. and Malayan Colleges Laguna are located in Cabuyao.

HISTORY

Cabuyao used to be named Tabuko, but this was misinterpreted by the Spaniards as Kabuyaw (named after a tree).
After the colonization of Manila by Miguel López de Legazpi in 1570, he instructed Capt. Juan de Salcedo to conquer all barangays around the lake of Ba-i, which is now called Laguna de Bay. Just like the settlement of Ba-i, Tabuko had large plain area and rich forestry and the climate was suited to farm crops. On January 16, 1571, it was announced by López de Legazpi that Tabuko be considered as encomienda or a town under Gaspar Ramirez.
The town of Tabuko was located near the corner of a river and the lake of Ba-i which was made bancas or raft as the common means of transportation going to the town of Tabuko. There were many trees of kabuyaw growing around the area. The fruit of kabuyaw was used as shampoo. So, when the priest asked for the name of the place, the native females readily answered “kabuyaw”, thinking that the priest was asking for the name of the trees growing around the wharf. From then on, the priests and other Spanish officials called the town of Tabuko as Kabuyaw.

Cabuyao is politically subdivided into 18 barangays.

    mayaman nga oo mayaman, pero ang mga tao dito sa cabuyao hindi mayaman mga negosyante ang mayayaman at isa pa puro kurapsyon yung mismong taga cabuyao ang hindi nila prinaprayoridad! panget ng palakad. madadaya parepareho. swapang ang mga opisyales.ang mga tao dito yung mga may kailangan ng tulong hindi tinutulungan palakasan pa dapat, ang ospital ng cabuyao dapat si mayor ang binoto pag hindi si mayor nako dun ka sa ibang ospital mag pa check up at mag paconfine kahit mamatay na yung pasyente dun ka sa ibang ospital. yung mga school over crowded wala silang magawang paraan sa mga bata. yung mga adik prioriti dito sarap nga nmn ng drugs.

    Magandang araw! Nais ko sanang iparating ang aking hinaing ukol sa mabigat na daloy ng traffic sa Pulo-Diezmo road na dulot ng lubak na kalsada. Sana po ay mabigyang pansin ito at masolusyunan. Malaking abala po ito sa mga mag-aaaral at naghahanap-buhay. Balewala po ang paglalagay ng mga traffic enforcer. Salamat po.

    Hoping magawa na yung pulo- diezmo road. umuubos ng 30 to 45 mins sa travel time ko papuntang opisina sa ortigas. Grabe. last time i was late for 45 minutes just because kinain ng pulo diezmo road ang almost 45 minutes na oras ko na dapat eh 10 mins lang nasa slex ka na knowing the fact umalis ako ng bahay before 7 am… tama balewala din ang traffic enforcer. thanks hoping maayos na po xa
