Aside from Mer-Nel’s chocolate cake, my family have another addiction. I don’t know why they call it french cake pero naki-french cake na rin ako. Haha.
Tita Edith, my Tito Zandro’s wife is from San Pablo City and she was the one who introduced this cake to us and it has been delighting our taste buds and tummies for years now. My family just love good food.
This unbranded cake is just chiffon cake with little filling that divides the plain bottom and the top that has that sweet coating which I can’t describe exactly what’s it made of. Basta matamis and a little sticky, designed with chocolate lines (my brother told me how that wave-like pattern is done with toothpick, haha).
The cake remains unbranded throughout the years. This ‘french cake’ comes in a plain cardboard box without any labels whatsoever. The business owner does not even put their contact number on the box, failing on marketing strategies but mind you, their business is really doing good and has never fail their loyal customers.
Last Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, we bought 30 and 20 boxes respectively because neighbors and friends from our place want the cake to celebrate these two special days. Instant kumikitang kabuhayan! Hahaha.
So if you’re from San Pablo City, share with us your insights about this über delicious cake. 🙂
